Our Mission

Mission

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

 ~Romans 10:1

Here at Solid Rock Apostolic Holiness Church, we believe in the inspired word of God. We are fully committed to bringing lost souls to Christ and doing the will of our Lord and Savior. We are on the job in helping to meet the needs of God’s people and reaching out to the surrounding community.

Word of God

WE BELIEVE in the true and unadulterated word of God. The word of God, from Genesis to Revelations, is our only roadmap to heaven. Our church continues to follow the apostle’s doctrine as it is written in the scriptures. We exercise the word with power through prayer and healing the sick.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

 -Matthew 4:4

One True God

WE BELIEVE in the one true God. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Our God is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), and omnipresent (all over).

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: ~Deuteronomy 6:4

One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. ~Ephesians 4:5-6

Jesus Christ

WE BELIEVE in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He is the only begotten son of the Father. It is only through him that we must be saved.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

~John 3:16

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

~Acts 4:12

Repentance

WE BELIEVE that the first step to salvation through Jesus Christ is repentance. We must became Godly sorry for the sins that we have committed. God is merciful and just to forgive.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

~Acts 3:19

Water Baptism

WE BELIEVE in the full immersive water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The water baptism washes away our Adam sin, so that we may come up walking in the newness of life.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...

~Acts 2:38

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. ~Romans 6:4

Holy Ghost

WE BELIEVE that you must receive the precious gift of the Holy Ghost and speak in tongues as the spirit gives you utterance. The Holy Ghost gives us power to walk and talk right. The Holy Ghost gives us power against the attacks of the devil. The Holy Ghost will lead us and guide us in all truth.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

~Acts 2:4

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

~Acts 2:38

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you …

~Acts 1:8

Salvation

WE BELIEVE in living a holy and righteous life so that we can be blessed by God and inherit eternal life with Jesus. We must follow the commandments that Jesus left for us on record. We must worship God daily through songs, prayer, and the reading and studying of His word.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

~Matthew 6:33

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

~Matthew 22:37-39

Second Coming

WE BELIEVE that Jesus is coming back for his church in the first resurrection and that we need to live according to his will in order to meet him in the air. The second resurrection will have no power.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

~I Thessalonians 4:16-17

Then
and
Now

In 1993, the Lord led Bishop Richard and Pastor Irene Moore to start Solid Rock for His work. After much fasting and prayer, they opened up the church on August 8, 1993 at 2311 Bainbridge Blvd. in Chesapeake, Virginia in a small storefront. While there, they worked hard as God added souls to the church, baptizing them in Jesus name and filling them with the Holy Ghost. We believed in having a high time in the Lord. We did not mind singing and giving God the praise. Among our fellowships, we were known for our loud music and were more than glad to share with them what such wonderful leaders God blessed us with.

As the church grew, we continued to strive hard to carry on the work of the Lord. God moved in extraordinary ways, working miracles, healing the sick, and blessing the saints. God even blessed us to start a men’s quartet group called the Solid Rock Crusaders, who still minister through music until today. Our Bishop and Pastor fed us both naturally and spiritually. They brought in food by the truckloads, preparing bags for every family. Also, through their powerful preaching and teaching, they taught us the importance of living right, giving, and working in the vineyard.

Down through the years, we continued to keep up the house of God and work towards attaining the vision that God set forth for Solid Rock. Finally, in 1995, we were able to buy properties for the new church on Commerce Ave. in Chesapeake, Virginia. God gave Pastor Moore the vision to build a bigger edifice where his name might be established. Built from the ground up and furnished with lush green carpet and cushioned pews, the new church was officially dedicated on August 18, 2001. In our beautiful, new sanctuary, we continued to give God the praise and new souls were added, baptized, and filled with the Holy Ghost.

Today, we continue to grow and do God’s work as we reach out to the surrounding community through various programs such as our Food Pantry every Saturday and our Harvest Festival every fall. As in the past, we continue to engage our church youth and teach them how to live holy through our Youth Services every fourth Sunday night and our Annual Christmas plays. By the grace of God, Solid Rock will continue to move forward, expand, and be what God is calling for us to be in these last and evil days. We will forever stand on Psalms 127:1, “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it…”
